Chief Investment Officer
Gerard O’Reilly founded Pilot View Capital in 2003. Previously, Gerard worked for Goodbody Stockbrokers for 7 years where he was Head of Institutional Equity Sales. From 1993 to 1995, he was a Director of Lazard Asset Management and Head of UK Equities. From 1989 to 1993, Gerard worked for Target Investment Management Limited as Head of its UK equity portfolios. He previously worked for Friends Provident Life Office as well as Investment Bank of Ireland.
Gerard holds a BBS from Trinity College Dublin and an MBS from University College Dublin.
Kerry O'Brien began his career in October 1987 as a trainee in fixed income. He subsequently specialised in Southern European government bonds and made markets to institutional investors while working for Nomura, Lehman Brothers, Painewebber as well as Bear Stearns. Following his MBA from London Business School (2000), Kerry ran a variety of service and manufacturing businesses. Prior to joining the firm, he managed a Dublin-based family office investing across a diverse range of assets classes including equities, fixed income as well as commodities since 2010.
Kerry holds BA in Natural Sciences from Trinity College Dublin and an MBA from London Business School.
Chief Operating Officer
Simon started his career as a trainee Chartered Accountant with McFeely & McKiernan before working with KPMG (Dublin). Following this he moved into the fund administration as Financial Controller for BISYS Fund Services. In 1998, Mr. McDowell joined Cap Advisers, a US Family Office. He was a member of the firm's Investment Committee and Vice President of Managed Funds, developing an extensive knowledge of the Hedge Fund sector. In 2007, Simon joined GlobalReach Securities as a portfolio manager before moving on to Enterprise Ireland where he was a Senior Advisor in the Financial Services Division. He established his own investment consulting firm, Glenview Advisers in 2011.
Simon holds a Bachelor of Science (Mgmt.) from Trinity College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Non-Executive Director (Chairman)
Lorcan Murphy was appointed Chairman of Pilot View Capital Limited in 2015. He is an experienced Independent Non-Executive Director. During his time in London, Lorcan has gained extensive investment industry experience across a range of institutional asset managers. He was Head of the Pooled Funds Group at Barclays Global Investors where he was primarily responsible for managing client relationships for both both intermediary and institutional in the European context.
Lorcan currently acts as a director to a number of UK, Luxembourg and Jersey Funds companies where he helps define strategy, provides fund manager oversight as well as representation.
Charles Peel was appointed non-executive director of Pilot View Capital on September 13th 2005. Charles previously worked with Grieveson Grant from 1963 to 1975, becoming partner in the firm in 1972. He then acted as Managing Partner of Fielding Newson Smith until 1987. Following that he worked for Morgan Grenfell as Head of Sales (1987 to 1988) after which he set up Peel Hunt plc (now trading as KBC Peel Hunt Limited) where he held the position of Chief Executive and Chairman until 2004.
